Welcome to St. John's!

God loves you. No exceptions.®

We are an eclectic blend of old and young, believers and seekers, life long Episcopalians and those who are "testing the waters." Our community is knit together by our love of God and our desire to share that love with each other through worship, acts of service, and spiritual formation. Here you will find a safe place to learn, experience, think, question, and grow.

Soup's On September 26th

We continue to hold Soups On at a drive-through meal service. Anyone can drive up to the church's handicapped entrance between 11:30 and 12:30 to pick up a free hot meal.

If you are interested in helping, we have a number of needs:

  1. We would like to give fruit with each meal. Donations of a half dozen pieces of fruit (bananas, oranges, peaches, apples . . .) would be a big help for the meal. If you want to do this, fruit can be dropped off Saturday morning (the 22nd) between 9:00 and 11 at the handicap door. If you have a church key, fruit can be placed on the pew inside the handicap door at your convenience.

  2. We have a GREAT group of volunteers that have been running the ‘drive thru’. There are Saturdays when some of them cannot be there. It would be nice to have one or two people available to fill in for the missing volunteer. It would require being at the church from 10:30 to 12:30 for Soups On Saturday. Contact Donna or Wes if you can do this.

  3. We have been delivering meals to members of the congregation who may have difficulty leaving their home. If you know of a member of the congregation who would appreciate a meal delivered to them, please let Donna or Wes know.

Thank you for thinking of St. John’s and Soups On.

New Feature: Treasures in Glass

Our church building has a number of beautiful stained glass windows that we're excited to share. Along with high-quality images of our windows, Treasures in Glass will periodically feature one of our windows with a history of the window and parish reflections on its significance.

Online and in-person worship

We hold in-person Eucharist with COVID precautions every Sunday at 9am, along with online Morning Prayer at 10:30am, streamed for the public at live.stjohnscf.org (bulletin in the video description). The first Sunday of each month, we will also stream in-person Eucharist at 10:30 in place of Morning Prayer. More information, including in-person COVID precautions, can be found here.

General Information

  • Activities are cancelled. Please read this letter from Rev. Sally, and this letter from Bishop Hollingsworth. As news and reflections are sent over email, I will do my best to collect them here. Rev. Sally is available for pastoral calls (her contact info is here).

  • In person AA meetings are cancelled at this time. Place contact Akron area AA for more information. Online meeting information is available here.

  • I'm assuming NA meetings are also cancelled, but I don't know. Contact NA for information.

  • If you feel like you need the help of a professional counselor, use this site to find someone who is available for online sessions. Getting through the day in these turbulent times can be hard.

  • If you are able, reach out to neighbors that you know cannot travel freely during this outbreak. You can show God's love and care through a grocery or prescription run.
