Orthodox and Inclusive
St. John’s is proud to be a welcoming parish for LGBTQ+ people. We are inclusive because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and not in spite of it! We are both orthodox and inclusive!
Orthodox, in that we believe that God, the holy and glorious Trinity, is revealed to us by His only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. We believe Jesus became one of us only to suffer death on a cross and rise again, freeing us from bondage to sin and death. Each of us participates in mystical union with Christ through prayer, devotion and the Holy Sacraments of the Church.
Inclusive, because when Jesus teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves, we understand that he means everyone, including LGBTQ+ people and their partners.
Wherever you find yourself in your spiritual life, we invite you to journey with us as part of our family. We are hoping to establish a LGBTQ group at our church, providing social activities and discussion groups. It is also our intent to form a LGBTQ and Friends choir, bringing together our voices and instruments.
